Grease Tags and “Mapping”
Grease Tags A manual tracking system using a head unit will also require a digital ID tag on a greasepoint, hence the term grease tag. The head unit detects the tag ID and assuming the tag is mapped in the system correctly it knows the desired requirements and location of the grease point.
Let’s take a closer look at the Grease Tags section where you can easily map tags in the system. This information is primarily around manual systems using grease tags. Endpoints are typically added to the account during production and preset to associate with your account, essentially no configuration required.
-
Locate the Grease Tags section
-
ADD a new point (tag) and the new line is created for data entry
-
Name the tag location
-
Set the preferred order if known, (optional, default is 0 indicating no order preference )
-
select a parent machine from the drop list
-
select the area from the drop list
-
select the consumable from the drop list
-
set a desired volume for the point. **
-
you can input the RFID as reported on the head unit. Case sensitive and ensure an exact match.***
-
select a schedule from the drop list. You can operate without a schedule however that is the mechanism for reporting on compliance.
-
you can ADD the entry or EXIT the line to start again
✅ Tip: We recommend using the upload template for bulk loading of named point information and the commissioning application for mapping higher numbers of tags time effectively.
⚠️ **GreaseBoss will not suggest volumes.
This information should be requested from equipment suppliers.
use ”0” to specify “not required”
use either ‘Purge’ or 'P' to specify purge points (case insensitive)
⚠️ *** RFID codes are 12-24 digits long. It is recommended the onboarding app be used to updates RFIDs to avoid typo errors.
Route Editor

More about route editor...
We have added a drag and drop interface for ordering points into a desired route.
The route editor has the following functionality:
-
Single row re-ordering using drag and drop
-
Multiple row re-ordering using drag and drop, users are able to select multiple rows to reorder at the same time.
- Auto-scroll on drag, which naturally scrolls the table when your dragged rows reach the end of the visible area.
Devices
More about Devices
The Devices section of the system displays information regarding GreaseBoss hardware used at your site.
Currently there are two device types you may see, Gateways (GW). Headunits (HU).
Gateways are the communications device used by either head units or end points to connect to the greasecloud. They are required for endpoints and optional (but recommended) for head units.
A head unit is a manual portable device that travels around site with the grease gun tracking activity and reporting to the greasecloud.
This information is managed by GreaseBoss however is valuable for you identifying hardware in use on your site.
