Endpoint Installation Procedure - Mobile equipment

Safety

Follow all site policies and procedures.

Device overview

  • The Endpoint is small grease flow meter installed inline with a grease system.

  • It monitors the flow and wirelessly reports data to the GreaseBoss Cloud for analysis.

  • It is battery powered and can last for up to 5 years depending on configuration.

Installation

Steps Images Images Images

Step 1

  • Choose a location for the GreaseBoss Gateway (photo 1.)

  • One recommendation is to install it on the railing near the cab as close to the center of the vehicle as possible (photo 2.)

  • GreaseBoss provides the mounting clamp for the Gateway as part of the system. (pole mount shown in photo 3)

Step 2

  • Once the gateway is mounted, choose a path for the power cable (illustrated by the red arrows in Photo 1) that can connect to the vehicle’s battery area.

  • Choose a connection point that will have active power when the vehicle is switched ON (so that the Gateway does not draw power when the vehicle is not running (Photo 2.)

Step 3

  • The power cable as provided needs to be terminated at the machine power source end appropriately ( crimped ring terminals recommended (ring terminals not provided by GreaseBoss).

✅  Consider installing a protective inline 5A fuse.

  • Power on the Gateway and using a phone, wait until you detect the WiFi signal from the device in your list of WiFi networks.

  • The network name will be the Gateway Serial Number (Photo 2 – in this example GBLG200013.)

Step 4

  • Verify signal function BEFORE installing, locate the endpoint near the intended installation location.

  • Force a sync by holding the button down for 7 seconds (Photo 1.)

  • Both LED lights Check Mark (green)& Warning(red) will fast flash to signify the start of the syncing process with the Gateway (Photo 2.)

  • Keep watching the lights.

✅ This verifies signal and power are ok BEFORE you install.

Step 5

  • When the Endpoint makes a connection with a Gateway, the left LED Check Mark will slow flash green (Photo 1) for a few seconds as data is transferring.

  • When the Endpoint has successfully synced with a Gateway, that same green Check Mark LED will remain solidly lit for approximately 2 seconds (Photo 2.)

  • After the 2-second green, both LEDs will turn off.

  • The Endpoint can be installed.

⛔ Note: A RED light indicates a failed sync.

Re-try 3 times and if unsuccessful you may have a technical issue.

Step 6

  • As shown in this photo, there are many ways to connect an Endpoint to the grease point it will monitor.

  • It can be connected to the auto-luber (connections 1 and 2) or it can be connected via hose (connections 3, 4 and 5.)

  • Both the inlet (top) and the outlet (bottom) are ¼-inch BSPP female connections.

Step 7

  • For a direct connection, the grease point must have a male ¼-inch BSPP connector (nipple)(Photo 1.)

  • Place the Endpoint on top of the male connector (Photo 2) and tighten until the device is solidly mounted (Photo 3.)

  • The Endpoint should be facing the Gateway to ensure the best communication pathway if possible, for example if you had SOME failed syncs.

    • If nearby the gateway this is not important.

Step 8

  • To install the Auto-luber adapt the outlet to ¼-inch male BSPP using an appropriate adapter on the auto-luber

  • Attach to the Endpoint ensuring a solid connection.

  • Once the devices are fully installed, the auto-luber can be powered on for purging (which will be recorded now).

🗒️ There is no need to press buttons any further unless you want to force a sync, the device is preset to regularly auto-sync.

Step 9 – Other Endpoint installations

  • Endpoints can be installed with magnetic backplates, hoses or other fittings or directly connected to auto-lubers.

  • The key to a successful installation is to plan the location of the Endpoint and measure the distance between that location and the grease source.

  • In addition, many vehicles will have ½-inch connections, so the installer will need to have enough ½-inch to ¼-inch adapters on hand, along with the proper hoses, to successfully install the Endpoints.

Device Operation

  • The devices are automatic and can be remotely monitored for example battery or signal issue as well as flow events.

Maintenance

  • Replace battery - when required this is a simple 2.5mm hex key hand tool task taking care not to introduce debris on opening.

  • Troubleshooting - contact support @greaseboss.com.au with the endpoints serial number and description of the issue. The team are here to help!
