Operational Guide - 1. Introduction & System Overview
Purpose of the Monitoring Solution
The GreaseBoss Automatic Grease System Monitoring Solution provides visibility into the performance of an automatic lubrication system by monitoring grease delivery and system health.
The solution helps maintenance and reliability teams identify lubrication issues early, respond to developing problems, and gain confidence that critical lubrication points are receiving the grease they require.
Rather than relying solely on scheduled inspections or assumptions that a lubrication system is operating correctly, GreaseBoss provides ongoing monitoring and alerts when abnormal conditions are detected.
Intended Users
This guide has been developed for personnel responsible for operating, maintaining and improving the performance of assets fitted with the GreaseBoss Monitoring Solution.
Typical users include:
• Operators
• Maintenance Personnel
• Maintenance Supervisors
• Reliability Engineers
• Asset Managers
• Other personnel responsible for asset health and lubrication performance
Using This Guide
This guide is intended to help users understand what the GreaseBoss Monitoring Solution is telling them and how to respond when issues occur.
Detailed instructions relating to system configuration, dashboard operation, device management and maintenance procedures are available within the GreaseBoss Knowledge Base.
Monitoring Philosophy
The GreaseBoss Monitoring Solution is designed to provide continuous visibility of lubrication system performance while reducing the need for manual inspection.
Conditions that may require attention automatically trigger configured alerts and notify the appropriate personnel when investigation or corrective action may be required.
For many users, alerts will be the primary reason for accessing the system. The dashboard can then be used to investigate issues, assess their impact and support troubleshooting activities.
The system also provides value beyond alerts through periodic reviews of lubrication performance, asset health and developing trends. These reviews can help identify recurring issues, verify corrective actions and support reliability improvement activities.
System Benefits
Monitoring data helps verify grease delivery, identify issues earlier, reduce manual inspection requirements, improve reliability, support better maintenance decisions and increase confidence in automatic lubrication systems.
System Components
The GreaseBoss Monitoring Solution consists of three primary components working together to collect, transfer and analyse monitoring data.
Endpoint Devices
Monitor grease activity at individual lubrication points and collect monitoring data.
Gateway
Transfers information from Endpoint Devices to the GreaseBoss Cloud.
GreaseBoss Cloud
Analyses monitoring data, generates alerts and provides visibility of lubrication system performance.
How the System Works
Endpoint Devices are installed into grease lines throughout the lubrication system.
The Endpoints measure grease flow and monitor lubrication activity, capturing and storing monitoring data.
The Endpoints transfer information to a Gateway.
The Gateway transfers information to the GreaseBoss Cloud where it is analysed against configured requirements and alert conditions, and displayed for user visibility.
Alerts are generated when abnormal conditions are detected, allowing users to investigate and respond as required.
