Trouble reading tags

Summary

  • Some sites have been experienced a number of grease events reporting the RFID as “UNTRACKED GREASING”

  • This is how greasing to an untagged , unknown point is recorded and represented.

  • In fact you are actually greasing a what is expected to be named and rfid mapped point, yet it is unrecognised.

  • The system accordingly assumes the delivery is to an unnamed unmapped point, which is reflected in the data as zeros.

Scenario

  • In some cases sites have been using a quick release coupler on the end of our dog leg extension.

  • when used with the supplied steel dog leg extension a users hand is naturally drawn to “hold” the end possibly with a thumb on the lever ready to release.

Explanation:

  • The User of the Head unit is keeping their thumb on the quick release latch and their hand over the dog leg while pumping grease appears to be creating an interference with the RF Antenna which is located inside of the handle.

  • This concept was demonstrated in the pictures Below.

Example:

❌ We can see below that the systemis unable to read the tag due to the hand being on the thumb latch and over the dog leg extension.

❌ Taking the Thumb away still does not ensure a successful read of the tag

Check Mark It is only when you take your thumb and hand away, the nozzle successfully reads the tag.

Check Mark Check Mark Best Way to Ensure Successful Read and Proper Use of Head Unit
  1. Latch Coupler to Nipple

  2. Move hands away from all metal components.

  3. The system should now be reading the tag on that point as seen below.

✅ RECOMENDED OPTION

  1. Hold the nozzle by the Handle

  2. Lock on if using a quick release coupler

  3. Reads tag quickly.

  4. Start greasing the point.

  5. Repeat
