Step 3 - Use the Onboarding App (Manual Systems)

Updated August 2024:

GreaseBoss have released a native mobile application approved for use by Google and Apple:

GreaseBoss Mobile Application - Google and Apple Information

Additional information available in the appendix:

GreaseBoss Application - Walkthrough and Remapping Tags

You will require access to the respective appstore, check with your system admin if you need permission or credentials.

  • The native apps are the only way you can map tags so if your unable to install an app on your device, contact support@greaseboss.com.au to discuss alternatives.

  • The webbased (old) app will soon be depricated

What you need and preparation:

  1. An internet connected mobile device with a camera

  2. Access to either the Google play stor or apple app store

  3. A clear naming convention in mind or understanding of any account s already loaded to the account (depending on your situation)

  4. A GreaseBoss Head unit to read the tags and generate a QR code for scanning

  5. You have logged in to the account at least once and can remember the credentials- required on the mobile app also.

  6. You have already populated the account with named points with only the RFID field remaining . These are the points “to be mapped”.

Procedure to “map tags” using the GreaseBoss app:

Mobile App Head unit or at a grease point in the plant
1 Open the GB App.
  • open the GreaseBoss app.

  • login using the same credentials you use on a desktop machine to access the platform.

2 Go to the point in the plant

  • physically go to the point you wish to map

3 Browse the app top the same point
  • browse to locate the same point by name and select it (see supporting video)

  • locate the RFID field (which may be empty unless you are updating a lost tag etc)

  • select the camera icon to engage the QR code scanner

4 Read to generate a QR/RFID code on the head unit
  • Read a tag to display a QR code on the head units screen

  • The QR code will remain on screen for 5 seconds once removed from the tag (just read again if required to regenerate a QR code)

5 Save the QR/RFID code to the point
  • a successful scan of the QR will generate a 24 character entry for you in the RFID field.

  • SAVE the work (saves the work locally only on your device)

  • periodically SYNC (send your work from the device to the platform)

6 Install the tag on the point
  • install the tag physically at the location it is now mapped to

7 Repeat this process at every point in the plant repeat steps 2-7 until all done
8 On the head unit:
  • You should return the head unit to where it can also sync via the gateway

  • connect the charge plug to manually invoke sync (otherwise is automatic)

  • once sync completes you can return to test the mapping has completed

9 In the plant:
  • return to one of the points you have mapped

  • connect the head unit to the point as if you were about to grease

  • ensure the tag is read correctly and as expected, (ensure the screen indicates the point name and location)

  • if a QR code is displayed this means the point has not been successfully mapped and requires re-mapping, start over.

10 Final testing:

(2) sync again simulating the end of a greaserun/shift/day.

(1) deliver some grease simulating a grease run
11 Tag mapping complete. Visit the desktop platform and view the test data or continue system optimisation.

Additional options:

  • You may need to add information as you go about mapping- thats ok. (see video)

  • You may want to capture a note while in the field - use the notes field (the information is then sync’d up to the platform for use later)

  • You may want to edit information with the app, that’s fine although generally large edits are better using other methods from a desktop machine - contact support@greaseboss.com.au if you need to know more.

Legacy method.

Web Based app - retianed for historic purposes and will be soon depricated...

What you need:

  • Any internet web-browsing device with a camera

  • A GreaseBoss account which you have permission to and have previously signed into.

  • A clear naming convention in mind or understanding of any account s already loaded to the account (depending on your situation)

To get started simply use your internet ready mobile device web-browser and go to:

The app requires some cookies to be retained for correct function- do not use incognito or private browsing

✅ The app should work in any web-browser however our primary browser testing has been in google chrome, if possible try and use this browser so we can support if required.
